Aaliyah Dana Haaughton soared to prominence after the release of her first album Age Ain't Nothing More Than an Number in 1994. She was only 15 at when the album was released and it was later renamed Gold. The collaboration that influenced R. Kelly's musical style, put her in the limelight. In 1996 she worked alongside Jermaine Dupri as well as Timbaland for her second album One In A Million which featured the hit number one single If Your Girl Could Only Know. Aaliyah became a well-known R&B artist after her album's release. She was also in Romeo Must Die, a romantic action film with Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the movie Romeo Must Die spotted her during an awards event. In 2002, she appeared as involved in the Anne Rice-produced movie about horror Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels saw her playing Zee, after appearing in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. The artist has received four Grammy nominations between 1999 and 2003. The actress is the first Indian American to be who was born in Connecticut. The stage name Mann is an abbreviation of her marital name Mankad. She uses Aarti Man and Aarti Mahumdar as her stage name. The acting career of her began in mid-2000's with minor roles on TV and films. Other than The Big Bang Theory her other notable works are Leverage (2012) Suits (2013) and Grey's Anatomy (2017). The actress also appeared in a variety of commercials that included Volvo and other major automobile brands. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actress.
